MEMBER OF THE MONTH – May 2021
NAME: Kyle Finan
COMPANY: Cushman & Wakefield
POSITION: Facility Manager
BIO:
Kyle hails from the beautiful city of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and has called New Orleans home for over four years. He attended the University of South Alabama where he studied journalism and communications and spent 11 years working in multifamily management, prior to relocating to New Orleans. Once in the Big Easy, Kyle switched gears to commercial management with the global real-estate services company Cushman and Wakefield where he is responsible for 500,000 square feet of Entergy Corporation workspace.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH IFMA – NEW ORLEANS?
About two years.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE WITH IFMA – NEW ORLEANS?
I really enjoy the social activities, it’s a great chance to meet others in your field, bounce ideas off each other, hear the challenges and successes others face, and really brainstorm how to bring other ideas back to your own job. Also, it’s great to put a face to a name in such a digital world.
WHAT DID YOU ACCOMPLISH IN THE LAST YEAR THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF?
I achieved my FMP certification, it’s nice to add some letters to my name!
WITH THE CRAZINESS OF 2020, WHAT DO YOU MISS ABOUT THE PRE-PANDEMIC WORKPLACE?
I miss my co-workers; you see each other so much you truly become like a family. I never realized how much you could miss the background noise of an office.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB?
I love that I never know what I may walk into or what lies a head in the day. I can have a full schedule planned and one call can change it all. I could never be a sit at my desk all day type.
WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Well, while I was born and raised in the south, but I come from a very large northern family, my mom has 46 first cousins and both of my parents are from Boston, Mass. Stuffed peppers were their forte, not gumbo!
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES?
Traveling, I’d rather a great experience than a new car! I love being outside whether it’s boating, biking, or trying to look like a natural born runner. I like to be super social but I’m all about balance so nights on my couch with my dog are the best!
WHATS ON THE HORIZON IN 2021:
Now that I have my FMP, I think I may try for some more certifications, I have been checking into the SFP certification. And more traveling!!!
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WITH YOUR JOB POSITION ON THEIR FIRST DAY WORK?
Prioritize, everyone thinks their needs are the most important, great customer service and communication will go a long way to help you be successful.
